About this Edition.

As with all these monthly Appendage's No.5 derives from a larger work which, in this instance, is Passive Sensor Series, first exhibited at Herald St, London 2016.

Elegant and excremental in equal measure, the clay figures adopt a process somewhere between primitive coil pots and contemporary rapid prototyping.

Coiled in hundreds of metres of extruded clay with extremities hand-modelled, they are mechanical but pre-digital, mimicking new technology but resisting the replicative fantasies it incarnates.

A deliberate clash of the physical and conceptual, the figures are intended as neither quite human nor inhuman ... just somewhere uncomfortably in between.
